Only in California can you surf, race and ski all in one day! Jimmie spent time in early March surfing at Huntington Beach, racing at Auto Club Speedway and skiing at Mammoth Mountain with other professional surfers and skiers. He learned a few tips on the board and skis...and gave some pointers about how to drive a car!
Another solid day for the No. 48 Lowe's team. After starting third, Jimmie took the lead on lap 75 and it was looking like the Kobalt car might make a visit to the Kobalt 400 Victory Lane. But after fighting some loose conditions, Kasey Kahne and Matt Kenseth were able to battle their way to the front of the field. Jimmie finished 6th in the Kobalt Tools 400, retaining the points lead in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
After running well all day, Jimmie made a late-race pass to gain track position in the 55th running of the Daytona 500. A caution with just a few laps to go provided him the opportunity to re-start on the high-line, the preferred line all afternoon. With a car that "didn't have a scratch on it," Johnson was able to take the checkered flag for his second Daytona 500 victory (his first was in 2006).
Lowe's Home Improvement has signed a two-year contract extension that secures the full-season primary sponsorship of the No. 48 NASCAR Sprint Cup team and five-time series champion Jimmie Johnson in 2014 and 2015.
“Lowe’s is all I’ve ever known in my Sprint Cup career, and their support of me and the No. 48 team is second to none in the sport. We’ve been together for this crazy ride, and I’m so happy we’re continuing it together. They truly are family, and I’m proud to represent them,” said Johnson, driver of the No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet SS.

Sunday at Daytona International Speedway will mark Jimmie's 400th Sprint Cup Series start. In those 400 starts, he has had 5 Championships, 60 wins and 166 top-five finishes. He is one of only 8 drivers with 60 wins and was the 6th fastest driver to reach such a milestone in his career. Listen in to what his Hendrick Motorsports teammates have to say about his 400th start.
