Pocono Raceway is a 2.5-mile chunk of geometry in the mountains of eastern Pennsylvania near a village called Long Pond. The track couples the longest straightaway in Nextel Cup racing with three -- count 'em, three -- unique turns that can't be matched with the same car setup. It is not a symmetrical triangle. It's a little lopsided to the left because of the shorter North Straight. Richard Petty won the first Cup race at the track in 1974. Since then, many improvements have been made, including a paddock area in the garage, a picnic area with gazebos and for the drivers, and one of the best infield motorhome lots on the circuit.
